ALPINE SUITE-NINEWELLS 

GROUP PROJECT

 

This group project tasked us to redesign the bereavement room at Ninewells hospital. The bereavement room is a place for birthing people and families who have sadly suffered a pregnancy loss of some form. 
 

To begin research, we did an engagement task, using the idea of capturing memories to see what people consider comfort and fond memories. From this we managed to get a theme and inspiration, which turned out to be nature. Using this we moved forward in water patterns, mountain sides and pathways through nature to create different patterns and sections in our space.

We ended up designed a natural and fond place to create memories for grieving families, a place that is safe and welcoming. With light simple materials, hints of green and blue the alpine suite is more of a homely room than hospital suite. Allowing to take a path through nature.
